Circle of Love Medical Missions
June 24, 2016 @ 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm
The evening’s presentation will be based on the awesome, international medical missions ministries that God is doing through a Christian Physicians organization headed by Dr. Helen Laib.
About the Laibs
Dr. Laib was challenged by her sister’s Vietnamese college roommate to become a doctor and go to Viet Nam at the age of 16. Dr. Laib attended Bethel College in St. Paul, MN before finishing her undergraduate schooling at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. She graduated from Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas in 1973 and completed a rotating internship at Baylor Affiliated Hospitals.
Her postgraduate training was in general surgery at Cook County Hospital in Chicago. She did a research fellowship at the University of Illinois, Chicago. Following this she was an attending physician in surgery at Cook County Hospital and the Chief of Surgery in the Adult Emergency Services. She married Dr. David Laib, a pathologist. The Laibs moved to Rockford, Illinois in 1986. David works at OSF St. Anthony Medical Center where he is the chairman of the pathology department. Helen established a private practice in general surgery and worked as a trauma surgeon at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Helen closed her private practice in 1998 so she could devote more time to running Circle of Love Foundation and making trips. She is board certified by the American Board of Surgery. David and Helen have two children, Andrew and Amy. Both have made numerous trips with Circle of Love and are interested in overseas service.
